ASPIRE Cybersecurity Work Group formed

When the world speeds up, the answer is not only to run faster. It is to have a strategy and a plan.

In April, the pre-launch of Mythos, Anthropic’s new AI model, assessed as capable of compromising critical systems worldwide at machine speed, made the point. The gap between discovering a vulnerability and exploiting it has collapsed from months to hours. Every organisation running critical processes, holding sensitive data and reporting to a global HQ is exposed, and regulation will not keep pace.

The responsibility for building resilience sits with the organisations, communities and networks that have the most to lose and the most to offer. So cyber experts from across the ASPIRE community met to begin building a collective response.

The ASPIRE Cybersecurity Work Group has been formed, with Andriy Varusha of Nihon Cyber Defence, a new ASPIRE member, as steward. It meets bi-monthly.

The group is one step in a sequence. At ASPIRE 2026, Andriy Varusha opened the Future Forum session Cyber: Are People the Front Line?, where the panel concluded that AI can take over repetitive work, triage and analysis, while final decisions, context and legal accountability stay with people.
